The Guardian gets it right. Yesterday I complained how a large number of UK papers ran a sensational story implying young girls were being made to take the contraceptive pill. It seems I wasn’t alone with my worries. Margaret McCartney reporting in The Guardian outlined similar dissatisfaction with the reporting of the story, whilst readers have also begun writing to newspapers such as The Herald challenging the quality of reporting.
It’s a shame that many people will remember yesterday’s headlines, and the false idea that GPs encourage teenagers to have underage sex will enter into public consciousness. But it’s great that other people were able to see through the spin.Tweet
