Parents and Parents To Be

These sessions are aimed at parents but can be organised by PCTs or other health organisations/charities who work with parents. Classes can be aimed at couples, or separate groups of mothers or fathers/partners.

Your sex life and relationship during pregnancy

Pregnancy can be a time when your sex drive soars or plummets. Parents to be often have worries about whether having sex could hurt their baby, if the baby knows they are having sex, and how to talk about their different desires. Sexual problems and relationship difficulties can be a problem for some during pregnancy. This fun and informal class creates a safe space for parents to be to hear about some of the effects pregnancy may have on their sex drives and relationships, and to answer some of the common questions people have about sex during pregnancy. The session includes the chance to ask questions anonymously so nobody has to feel embarrassed about asking for advice.

Your sex life and relationship after baby arrives

We’re led to believe it’s all downhill for your sex life once baby comes, but is this always true? This informal and fun session gives new parents information about how to manage their relationship in the first few years after baby arrives. It tackles how to communicate effectively with a partner; what to expect from your sex life; how to handle any sex problems; contraception; worries about your baby, sex and privacy; and tips on how to explore a new sex life and relationship together. The session includes the chance to ask questions anonymously so nobody has to feel embarrassed about asking for advice.

How to talk to your kids about sex

Want to talk to your child about sex but not sure when to start or what to say? Uncertain how to raise the issue or worried you may not have all the answers? Concerned about feeling embarrassed or having to discuss issues you don’t necessarily approve of? This session encourages parents with children of all ages to think about your experiences of sex education, to identify key areas where you would like help and support, and to share examples of good practice. Real questions from children are used to encourage parents to find answers, alongside an extensive resource pack that will enable you to talk to your child with confidence and enable them to confide in you about relationships questions.
