Today marks the International Transgender Day of Remembrance where we honour those who have been abused or killed through transphobia.
Cory Silverberg has an excellent blog about the day and links to a number of informative and moving sites that explain and discuss transphobia.
In the UK the issue of transphobia is relevant given recent campaigns against transphobia in the media and the seeming endorsement of this by established LBG groups such as Stonewall. It has been a particularly difficult and painful few months for the Trans community as a result. Here’s hoping that over the next year the energy and enthusiasm coming from grassroots Trans campaigners can help overcome much of the hurt experienced this year.Tweet
